Our district governor can best be described in two words - versatile and accomplished. Her various achievements are impressive in a way that most of these largely speak of selfless endeavors and not of personal triumph.

She is married to the late Dr. Pedro T. Abalos, a past president and a former GSE team leader. They have six children and eight grandchildren.

You wouldn’t miss our district governor in the civic circle. She is president of the Philippine Service of Mercy Foundation and vice president of the People Helping People Foundation. She was the charter president of the Auxiliary to the Philippine Medical Association and past president of the Soroptimist International of Cagayan de Oro and the Inner Wheel Club of West Cagayan de Oro. She is also a member of the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen of the Philippines since 1986.

She served in the government sector as Chairperson of the Cagayan de Oro City Tourism Board. She is affectionately known as the indefatigable fairy godmother in the beauty pageantry, being the lead organizer of the Miss Cagayan de Oro for several years until 2006.

In business, she is currently the president and chairman of the board of the Cagayan de Oro Medical Center. She is also the president and chairman of the board of the family-owned Abalos Golden Eagle International, Inc.,  vice president of both the Puerto de Oro Corporation and the Mindanao Health Care, corporate secretary of Golden Eagle Financial Corporation and Alrose Financial Services.

When she was in the United States, she took some Real Estate courses and earned a Realtors and Brokers license. She became the sales manager of Century 21 Golden Triangle of Denton, Texas.

With her background in real estate and finance, you might ask what her profession is. Curiously our district governor is a Registered Nurse and worked for a year in her Alma Mater, the Chinese General & Medical Center. She took up further studies in Pediatric Nursing at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

In the Rotary world, she was the first lady Rotarian admitted to the Rotary Club of West Cagayan de Oro. Her fellow Rotarians saw her hard work and dedication and elected her the first lady president of the same club in RY 1996-1997. In the district she served in various capacities as Assistant Governor, member of the district training team, chairman of several committees, DISCON chairman, group discussion leader, member of a GSE team among others. She has attended several Rotary International conventions, conferences and trainings here and abroad.  Recently she attended the Rotary International Assembly in San Diego, California.

Our district governor, Rhia Rita Y. Abalos, now has the distinction of being the FIRST LADY DISTRICT GOVERNOR  of RI District 3870.
